Innovate UK Awards £168,767 for EasiBridge Vehicle Bridge Development — EB100 Programme Confirmed

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Gateway to Research records confirm that Innovate UK awarded £168,767 to Bright Structures Limited and Dr. Stephen Bright for the project “EASIBridge: Ultra-Compact 4-Person Launchable Space-Frame Vehicle Bridge” — a Collaborative R&D programme running from June 2022 to June 2023. This was the second Innovate UK award to EasiBridge, following the original £50,006 feasibility award in 2017–2018.

The project title confirms the technical ambition of the EB100 programme: an ultra-compact, 4-person launchable space-frame vehicle bridge. The Warren-truss aluminium architecture — using 6082-T6 alloy components weighing no more than 20kg each — produces a vehicle bridge capable of MLC40 at 12m and MLC10 at 30m, with no site cranage, no specialist lifting equipment, and no access to the far bank required. Components are 10 times lighter and 20 times more compact than equivalent Bailey bridge systems.

A separate MoD contract (ACC2028511, reference TTWO0082, value £485,466) confirmed through UK procurement records further underpins the EB100 development programme, bringing the total confirmed UK government investment in EasiBridge vehicle bridge capability to over £650,000.

For military engineers, vehicle bridge procurement officers, and defence researchers searching for ultra-portable vehicle bridges, MLC-rated modular bridge systems, space-frame military bridging technology, or Innovate UK-funded defence innovations, the UKRI records provide the authoritative public confirmation of EasiBridge’s government-backed vehicle bridge programme.
